Reconfiguring the 5861-005 for Ameritech
If the software version in the router is version 4.0.5, then the PPPoE script is generally already configured as the router's default settings. To find out what software version you have on your router, issue the following command from the command line:
Ver
If your software version is version 4.0.5, type in 'dir' from the command line and make sure you have a file named autoexec.bat or autoexec.old
If you do not have version 4.0.5 and do not have a autoexec.bat or autoexec.old file in 'dir', refer to step 4.
Steps to reconfigure the router if you have software version 4.0.5 with autoexec.bat or autoexec.old:
1. From the router's command line, type "reboot default"
2. When the router reboots, type in "rem list" and make sure you have an 'Internet" profile and a "Basic" profile. Make sure the buffer on your telnet or terminal window is large enough so that the output from the "rem list" command does not get truncated. Your profiles should look like this:

3. If both the profiles are present, reenter your PPPoE username and password on the router's web interface or from the command line interface.
Command to set PPPoE username from the command line:
rem setoursysname <username> internet
Command to set PPPoE password from the command line:
rem setourpasswd <password> internet
4. If the profiles are not present, you would have to reconfigure the router manually. Simply cut and paste the PPPoE script from
http://www.support.efficient.com/drivers/flowpoint/5861-005B.txt (click here)
to a text file and upload it to your router. To upload scripts, please refer to KB article on Uploading Script Files
(shown below)
5. Once your script is uploaded, refer to
step 3 on how to reenter your PPPoE username and password.
Products: Flowpoint 128, 144, 2025, 2100, 2200, SSR245, SSR255, SSR250
Speedstream 5711, 5781, 5851, 5861, 5871
The Efficient Configuration Manager software is used with the integrated TFTP server to upload script files to the router.
You may wish to backup your current configuration before you upload the new script file. The backup and upgrade procedures should be administered locally (from the LAN) ONLY!
Backing Up your Router’s Configuration File • Start the Configuration Manager program and connect to the router. • Select the TOOLS menu and then select BACKUP / UPGRADE. • Select "Configuration File" and click on the BACKUP button. • Click on OK to save the backup copy in the default location.
Uploading a Script File • Start the Configuration Manager program and connect to the router • Select the TOOLS menu and then select BACKUP / UPGRADE. • Select "Script File" (if using Configuration Manager prior to version 3.9.6), “System Script” or “User Script” (if using Configuration Manager version 3.9.6) and click on the UPGRADE button. (If uploading the PPPoE script – select system script. If uploading an ipfilter script – you can select either system script or user script) • Select the script file you downloaded or created, and click on OK. • The router will proceed to copy the file to the router and upon completion, will prompt you to reboot. If you selected “user script” in Configuration Manager version 3.9.6, the router will not need to reboot for the new script to take effect.
